Without John

Mary sat by the water..the breeze was light
With the thought of her love she would not see that night
She was lonely when they were not together
The had been through such stormy weather

The night was coming and slowly came the waves
And she remembered their adjoining graves
She never thought things would change
Life without him would be so strange

Mary thought of the twinkle in John’s eye
And began to uncontrollably cry
She would never dance again
She lost her lover and best friend

The quiet of that big old house
Who would chase that pesky mouse
Mary could no longer sleep in their bed
All she faced was a life of dread

She called her children to say goodbye
It was now her time to die
Mary thought of John as she slit her wrists
Without John she could not exist

Without John
