mary

i once knew a woman named mary
her eyes brilliantly shined
she danced in the moonlight
holding a glass of red wine
her soul was filled with love
there was always a song in her heart
she left her love one day
although she did not want to depart
john drew the shutters
crying all by himself
stared at mary’s picture
sitting on the shelf
he no longer sang his songs
his symphony of love and magic
forgot what made his heart beat
life became simply tragic
his eyes were darkly circled
a loss of faith presided
everyone knew he felt lost
he could not hide it
one evening out of the shadows
mary did appear
whispering get on with your life
he felt her heat in his ear
the next day he awoke
with memories of her sweet face
remembering their wedding day
her pure white dress of lace
he again saw the sunlight
as if for the first time
his heart began to beat
starting feeling life sublime
he sat on their favorite bench
in the park down the lane
the sun blazed above him
he whispered her name,

MARY
