bones

at the wake he lied there
in a wooden box
soon to be buried
under dirt and rocks
no one prayed
nor said goodbye
not one tear shed
no one there to cry
in his life
he was very crude
a life that displayed
his very dark mood
he spoke aloud
but no one heard
they never listened
to even one word
it was all about “I”
“me” and “I am”
a little mind
a little man
a grave was dug
his wooden box slid in
no one came
he had sinned
against humanity
in his words and in his deeds
there was no one left
to care or grieve
on his tombstone
in bold red
‘THIS MAN DIED ALONE
GLAD HE’S DEAD"
laid to rest
his soul turned into stone
a self-righteous man
now just bones
a life wasted
nothing remained
everyone forgot
even his name
