the old crow

she was weathered
she was old
her cards were played
her life was sold
no more romance
no one to blame
she played hard
losing the game
she spent her life
believing beauty mattered
now it was gone
and she was shattered
she never allowed
her heart to show
her inner beauty
never glowed
no expensive creams
took away the lines
her age obvious
and so defined
walking along
jealousy rose
seeing young women
dressed in sexy clothes
wishing she were the one
men’s eyes would fall upon
she was now the old crow
no longer the beautiful swan
