WINTER YEARS

Summer is almost gone
Autumn will soon be here
The leaves will turn to red
And soon will disappear

Soon Autumn will turn to winter
Snow will then appear
Then it will happen
Another new year

Jack Frost will be ready
To cover window panes
Snow will be covering
All the streets and lanes

Life is moving too fast
I am growing old
I have some gray
Amongst my locks of gold

Memories flash
In and out of my mind
Good things that happened
And those not very kind

Time is of the essence
Must enjoy so much
Most important in my life
Are those hearts I touch

Smitten with life
And how we are ourselves frame
All life’s happenings
From which we soon learn

So many moments wasted
So much love to give
I have finally learned
There are errors I must forgive

I must enjoy each day
The snow so pure white
And the beautiful sunshine
Shining down so very bright

The trees brave and strong
With their rings of age
Each one watching us
Each one is a sage

The flowers that bloom
And then that wither
The patter of rain
That’s calling come hither

The beauty of family
The essence of life as it remains
The colors of a rainbow
Nothing stays the same

I will welcome Autumn
And then the same with Winter
My life will go on
I will not splinter

I am ready for a new year
And all the love it brings
Joy in my heart
Age makes me sing

WINTER YEARS
