OH NOT THAT WORD

My heart is in flight
I don’t know why
One minute I laugh
One minute I cry

Is he still a friend?
How can I be sure
Maybe infatuation
But I know I want more

My heart is speeding
My face is red
What is this feeling
In my head

There is no music
I’m swaying
Can it be the words
He’s saying

He’s whispering
Ever so softly in my ear
Telling me he always
Wants me near

I think he said love
Oh Not That Word
Hope I’m wrong
And this is not what I heard

I can’t believe it
He said it again
The feelings are gone
He’s only a friend

Wasn’t looking for love
Only a thrill
The word “love”
Gave me a chill

Wanted romance
Perhaps a fling
Before I know it
He’ll have a ring

Promises made
Promises broken
A ring left
Only a token

Rather be alone
Just being me
It’s much more fun
When you’re free

OH NOT THAT WORD
