FLIRTING

I sat in the moonlight
With a glass of wine
You sat next to me
Your hand in mine
We gazed at the moon
Remembering our first date
Wishing we could reverse the clock
When we used to flirt
Now we are way too comfortable
With our sedate life
Although we are lovers
We still are husband and wife
Tomorrow when you come home
I’m putting on a red wig
I’ll talk with an Irish brough
And dance an Irish Jig
I’ll make you Irish soda bread
And we’ll eat it with some butter
And I’ll tell you I love you
Better than any other
Then on Sunday
I wear a black wig for you
And I’ll have an Italian Accent
You’ll smile at me
As you always do
I’ll say Amore with a big smile
I’ll flirt with you
And ask you to stay for awhile
I’ll cook pasta with a fantastic sauce
And I will speak to you
In my Italian voice
You’ll think we’re dating once again
And our passion will rise
But when you look at me
You’ll recognize my eyes
And I know you’ll kiss me
In the way you always do
Tender and so loving
Because it is still you
