TWO SITTING FIGURES

Two Sitting Figures caught in time
Their love was once sublime
Now they sit as if the bark of a tree
Unable to move or be free
Frozen in time and in space
There is no way to erase
The love that they once shared
Together they thought they would be spared
Fate was not good to these two
It struck harshly, their lives could not be renewed
In life’s strange mystery and twist
Never holding or being kissed
What happened to their love of splendor
Did their idea of life make them surrender
To a stoic life of hardened wood
Never again to act as they should
Did boredom cause this tragedy
Do they know everyone can see
Pain and disdain in their faces
As they sit still and time races
