THE ETHEREAL ONES

They come past us and we don’t know
Touch us softly as they turn to go
Wishing they could share a memory
They just live in our reverie
A tear may fall as they pass
Will evaporate .. it won’t last
A fragrance of a remembered perfume
May permeate any room
The smell of a Cuban cigar
That he lit in his car
May linger for quite a while
Then dissipate till very mild
They walk among us the ethereal ones
In the darkness and in the sun
Wanting so to hold and caress
And bring us back happiness
They must wait for another day
When they come to take us away
To the Place where they now dwell
Where we shall go and live as well
