Bars

Can I have that piece of my heart back now?
The rest can’t function properly without it.
I’ve been trapped here in my corner,
Afraid to move or speak.
These invisible bars have me trapped,
And the key is in your pocket.
Do you even know that it’s in there?
Do you have any idea at all?
Or are you holding it for ransom
Until someone should break through these bars
And let my spirit free.
I am waiting for my rescuer
To save me from this cage.
To give me a piece of his own heart,
Replacing the one you stole.
I will never forget how you made me feel
When you stole my heart that day.
But I will move on and let it go,
As soon as the one I am waiting for
Breaks through these bars to save me.
