A Beautiful Trance

It seems a sad thing for the sun to set.
Bursting into blinding and beautiful color as it fades into nothing.
Part of me wishes that it would stay a while longer
To let its rays play on my skin for another moment.
Yet before I can do anything about it,
The glory of the sun is gone again,
And darkness begins to overtake the horizon.
Just then, something strikes my memory.
My eyes brighten with this joyous revelation.
I am suddenly filled with blissful anticipation of the night.
How could I ever be saddened that night is coming?
For out of the blackest sky comes the brightest stars,
Just waiting to shine with more beauty than I can ever prepare for.
There! The first star has made its dazzling debut.
I leap to my feet, wishing to dance under this star for hours.
Not much time has gone by before the sky begins to explode with light.
Countless gems of the night have appeared to grace the southern sky.
I fall to my knees in awe of this occurrence.
Before I know it, I am lying on my back in the grass,
Entranced by the beautiful vision above me.
I would not dare to speak.
I could not try to sleep.
Inside the starstruck glaze of my eyes,
Lies infinite perfection.
