Artist's Description

The towers on the dam at Lake Vyrnwy have doors providing access to their interiors. The door furniture is an interesting mix of verdigris and worn smooth.

Originally built to supply water to Liverpool and Merseyside, Lake Vyrnwy, North wales is now a nature reserve (as well as still supplying water) and is jointly managed by the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds. This was the first stone-built dam in the world when it was constructed in the 1880s.

Canon Powershot SX100 IS with 10X zoom lens, 6.0-60.mm, 1:2.8-4.3.

Featured in Windows and Doors Group, 21 January 2011.
