Artist's Description

In 2015 I exhibited a painting called “Full Circle” as part of a “Three Journeys” exhibition. I called it that because I felt I had indeed come full circle in my painting life as the North Yorks Moors National Park was the source and inspiration for all my early work. So it seemed fitting to return there as the centre piece of the exhibition themed on the painting life of me and two other artists. However, although I liked the piece I still felt it lacked something. So I took it out of the frame and had another look. I did more work on the foreground and, crucially, added that iconic symbol of the North Yorkshire Moors – black faced sheep. Although these provided a focus for the painting I feel they only add to the general harmony of the piece so this is definitely the definitive version ….for now!
