Darby River is at Wilsons Promontory and before World War II when the commandos took over the Prom this is where the road ended and the Darby River Chalet stood. During the war you would of seen army barracks on the right side of this shot (their concrete foundations are still easily visible). There was also a secret RAAF airport very close to this spot complete with underground hangers and an airstrip disguised to look like a farmers paddock. It also the place where my grandparents honeymooned back in the 1938.
This shot features Darby Swamp and Mt Leonard in the background. I love the combination of the golden dawn light and the reflection of the encroaching blue skies with the receding dark clouds in the background.
