Flynns Beach is one of the most popular beaches for families and surfers at Port Macquarie on the mid north coast of New South Wales, Australia.
It is named after John Flynn, one of the early surveyors in the district, who with the help of an inheritance, in the 1880s purchased 75 acres of land stretching inland from what is now Flynns Beach.

Port Macquarie had been a sleepy fishing port but throughout the 1960’s the town experienced rapid growth and its popularity as a holiday spot was beginning to manifest. Development since that time has been rapid due to the improvement of roads and cars, population pressures, and the prosperity of the postwar boom which fuelled marginal incomes for both holiday purposes and retirement. Thus the population of Port Macquarie more than doubled between 1966 and 1981, at which time it was the state’s second-fastest growing centre. Port Macquarie is now the fastest growing place in New South Wales. The town is expected to grow from an estimated 43,655 people in 2009 to 58,888 in 2027.
