Artist's Description

One of 62 statues carved by each Provincial State in Italy for Mussolini’s Foro Italico (Mussolini’s Forum) Each Provence carved a magnificent statue of an athlete showing 62 different sports events. A beautiful collection of male nudes in marble, unsurpassed in it’s grandeur and variation. It can be seen in the city of Rome, Italy.

Foro Italico is a sports complex in Rome, Italy. It was built between 1928 and 1938 as the Foro Mussolini (literally Mussolini’s Forum) under the design of Enrico Del Debbio and, later, Luigi Moretti. Inspired by the Roman forums of the imperial age, its design is lauded as a preeminent masterpiece of Italian Fascist architecture instituted by Benito Mussolini.
