"Opening Night"

‘Opening Night’

At opening night in concert hall
As lights went down, a hush did fall
Patrons there in evening clothes
Conducting orchestra personally compose

Baton but raised, begin the show!
Intensity of players did grow!
Those hearing, all attendance there
Such creation lofted all to elsewhere!

Mountain beauty, babbling brook
Suggestions of beauty all where took!
When but finished, and all but moved
Audience not seen, player behooved

To centre stage, address Composer fair
Forcibly, to see ‘standing ovation’ there!
Stone deaf and self perceived as coy
Beethoven had conducted his ‘Ode to Joy’!
