My Best Friend

It’s cold outside today
I’ll stay at home instead
I don’t need to do a thing
So I’ll just stay in bed
Getting under the covers
putting the blanket over my head
Doing better then playing I’m asleep
I’ll play that I am dead
Like God I’ll be all alone
before the big boom
No one will bother me
I’m an unborn child in the womb
I just know no one will bother me
as I lay here all alone
left with just my daydreams
drifting far away from home
Warmth, comfort and solitude
surround my being on this day
I can stay here for the longest time
no one will miss me anyway
Then the explosion of the telephone
rattles me for all I’m worth
Brings me back to life again
returning swiftly to the earth
On the other end is my best friend
I only have a few
And with a voice that cheers me up
said, “Hello… I’m missing You”

Artist's Description

My best friend keeps tabs on me often
If not I would rather drift away to never,
never land……There I write my poems.
