Artist's Description

Walkers on the skyline at Arthur’s Seat. At 251 m (823 ft) above sea level, Arthur’s Seat is the main peak of the group of hills which form most of Holyrood Park, a wild piece of highland landscape in the centre of the city of Edinburgh, Scotland, about a mile to the east of Edinburgh Castle.

Getting to the top is easy, especially if you drive round the Queen’s Drive (the road which circles the park) and park up at the little parking spot at Dunsapie Loch, one of the three lochs (lakes) in the park. From there, a gentle five minute uphill stroll and a little bit of a scramble will take you to the top.

On a nice summer’s day, there is generally a traffic jam of climbers/walkers waiting for their turn to stand at the top. It is well worth it as the view of the city from up there is amazing and quite unique.

Camera: Canon EOS 450D (Digital Rebel XSi in the USA)
Lens: Sigma 18-200mm
Handheld
