Artist's Description

Remains of the Hellenistic Stoa, dating from about 200 BC at the top of the Lindos Acropolis, Lindos Village, Rhodes.

A Stoa is an ancient Greek covered walk or colonnade, usually having columns on one side and a wall on the other. The Lindos Stoa was 87 metres long and originally consisted of 42 columns.

Rhodes is the largest of the Dodecanese group of Greek islands.
