Historic Scotland Category B Listed Structure

Designed by Hugh Baird and built 1820, Bridge Number 18 near Clifton Hall carries a track over the Union Canal, near Ratho, Midlothian, Scotland.

This 31.5 mile contour canal travels from The Falkirk Wheel to Edinburgh.

Popular features of this gentle lock-free waterway include the Avon, Almond (Lin’s Mill) and Slateford Aqueduct, which are among the finest in Britain.

Bridge number 18 is a Category B Listed structure (Ref: 27827).

This stretch of the Union Canal is a Scheduled Ancient Monument – Index Number 11097.
