Artist's Description

Located close to the complex of the Chiesa delle Zitelle on the Fondamenta delle Zitelle on Giudecca Island, Venice, Italy, the Casa dei Tre Oci (house of the three eyes) with its neo-Gothic brick facade and its three arched windows (its namesake ‘eyes’) was built in 1913 as his home and studio by the early-20th-century artist and photographer Mario de Maria.

The house is now a gallery dedicated to exhibiting photography from contemporary Italian and Venetian photographers.

The whole of Venice and its Lagoon is designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
