The main road (the Tarpon Springs Boulevard) which runs up through the Village of Nimborio, the only settlement on the beautiful Greek Island of Halki (Chalki).
The residents of Tarpon Springs, Florida, USA endowed Halki with money to build the road to the Monastery of St. John (Ag. Ioannis) far up in the mountains, which took about 6 years, being finished in 1995.
Much of the road is made from blocks of red stone, like crazy paving, it is really strange, but quite neat.
Halki is a small, charming island, part of the Dodecanese Group of Greek islands, situated opposite the west coast of the Island of Rhodes.
