Artist's Description

An English Heritage Grade I Listed Building

Whitby Abbey is located on the headland above the seaside town of Whitby, North Yorkshire, England.

The abbey’s foreboding ruins are said to have provided inspiration for Bram Stoker’s Gothic masterpiece Dracula. In the book, Whitby is the destination for the doomed ship Demeter, which carries Dracula to England.

Whitby Abbey is an English Heritage Grade I Listed building (LBS Number: 1316347).
