Artist's Description

The Almond Viaduct near Broxburn, West Lothian, Scotland. The viaduct is exactly on the boundery between West Lothian and Edinburgh district.

The viaduct, built between 1838 and 1842, is a Grade A listed structure. It is 36 arches long and is considered to be one of the finest stone railway viaducts in Britain. The viaduct carries the Edinburgh to Glasgow railway.

An impressive structure with 36 arches of 50 foot span, averaging 70 foot in height.
