winter blues

i hate winter, hate the lack of sun, warmth, greyness, dark short days. i really think i should be living somewhere warmer. i don’t get any sunshine at all and that’s why i get so down. get up early and exercise and back in house before it’s light. on the weekend i ran along the coast instead of the bush as the tracks are so shaded and i really was in need of some light after getting over my cold. alas, cloudy and windy and spent the whole time freezing. I took a group of friends mountain biking late Sunday afternnon and that was a hoot. really muddy and one friend Tommy is just a maniac on a bike, he’s like a circus freak….sitting on his handlebars and cycyling backwards along rough dirt tracks that we were all having trouble cycling forwards on! Every now and then he’d roll backwards get up and keep going. Then when he is riding frontwards he’s in the air, flying over mounds and embankments, sliding out sideways or zooming past you on hills.
this weekend we’re going up into the mountains to do the Woodford to Glenbrook race, which is a 25km x country. Its was cancelled due to the wet a few weeks ago.
Should be a beautiful run and hopefully nice weather, then we’ll trawl around the little villages.
i finished my 4th Cuban car yesterday and onto the 5th…this gets like a marathon, it gets harder as you go along, to keep going.Only one more to go.
Shipped a batch of paintings off to the Gold Coast for a gallery opening so hoping they go well up there. Kids are on holidays but at an age where they can occupy themselves pretty well and they’ve organised themselves a holiday up the coast with my brother and their favourite Aunty and nephew. Aunty Kaz buys them all their favourite foods, she shops regularly at Macro foods…and buys all these beautiful organic snacks etc.
so, thankfully we’ve passed the shortest day and we’re going to start getting some warmer weather, guess it’s not too far off now. I’d be better off living in the tropics. One day.
