this thursday i’m having the day off and with some friends marking two sections of the Oxfam trailwalker course for the 100km race that starts the next morning. we have to hang glowing tags every 50metres and arrows etc at trail junctions. I have friends in a few teams. One; will run it, they’ve won 3 times and do it in around 12hours. The other team has 2 of my friends who are very fit but the other 2 team members are unknown…they’ll be jog /walking it and hope to do @24hours.
Friday nights we’ve been meeting in the dak up at Red Hill and running thru the bush with LED torches for 2-4 hours, then around Narrabeen lake, which has been an absolute hoot. We really scared scores of teenagers huddled down around the lake who scattered, throwing all sorts of things into bushes thinking we were police.
we’ve been having such a great time training and enjoyed our crazy Friday night runs that we all want to keep doing it thru summer. Tomboy, Nicky and Mandy are such great, funny people and wonderful company…….we’re planning to make a team up for next year’s Oxfam and try to do it in @ 15hours.

Sunday, in the pouring rain, Nicky & I drove up to Berowra and ran the course to Cowan. The little creeks had become raging rivers and we waded thru one that was a bit wild only becsue it was too far and too cold to go all the way back. Took us 3 hours , the hills are really nasty along that section, parts of it you’re climbing pitons hammered into the rock. She’ll hit that part of the race which is around 80-90km’s in the dark and i wanted her to know what she was up for.

today I’ve been drawing up my clothing range, drawing up some of the graphics as thumbnails. Will start to paint them up tomorrow. Have to pick up 5 more metres of denim to sew up the jeans, skirts & shorts tomorrow. I battled for a few days last week with a skirt which i couldn’t get right. A jacket turned out beautifully. These just need to get lasered and a few treatments for different finishes.
I then have to start making patterns for each sleepwear range(i hate pattern making), i dye fabrics & laces, paint the yardage prints and placement prints on them. The it’s sewing…and more sewing. I have an embroidery machine that i can scan designs then autodigitise and it embroiders them onto fabric. This is what i’ll be doing for the next 4-6 weeks. NO paintings for a while.
