Sidney Fine Art Show Award

Well, it finally happened.
It is the second year my art was accepted into the Sidney Fine Art Show and the first time I received an award.
It was the Show Designers Award.
A total of 338 pieces of art from sculpture to photographs were accepted from 1,200 submission. Their selection was based on excellence, creativity, originality and technical achievement with an emphasis on artistic accomplishment.
It was nice enough to get all 3 of my submission accepted but even more special to be one of the 10 who walked the stage.
This is exciting.
Thanks to all of you for your comments and encouragement.
Here is the image that won.

Accepted into the Sidney Fine Art Show

Found out last week that I got one or all 3 of my submissions into the Sidney Fine Art Show accepted. Won’t find out till later which one or ones got in. Obviously, as a new artist I am surprised and delighted. The show is Oct. 14-17. I plan to be there for the opening and for the Sat. night meet the artists. If you are around, do attend.

Here are the three images:

2011 People & Planet International Photo Competition Win

I don’t often beat my chest but when you get to be 1 of 54 images selected out of 4000, it is a thrill. The competition was set up by “People & Planet Photo Competition – the People & Planet Diary & Calendar support the work of 37 Australian charities which are working to promote social-justice and environmental sustainability around the world.”
About 1000 photographers submitted images representing 82 countries.
With my passion for photojournalism and social causes, I was motivated to participate in the project. The picture that was selected is “Beachside Memorial”, a memorial constructed monthly by Veterans for Peace on the sand adjacent to the Santa Monica Peer – a place where families come to participate in the rides and shops and just have fun. I was struck by the juxtaposition of th…

Really don’t know how this happens, but “surprise” … He’s Coming gets featured on the Home Page … don’t often comment on these things, but, hey … how about some shameless self-promotion. Thanks for all the comments.

Sidney Fine Art Show

Just found out today that all three of my HDR images were accepted by this show. Show opens in Sidney, BC a week this Thursday. We will see what happens.
Here they are:

Accepted at the Sidney Fine Art Show

For the first time I submitted art (three HDR images) to this rather prestigious art show. There were over 1200 pieces of art submitted and 372 were chosen. I find out Friday which one(s) were selected. I have to thank you folks for your comments and the HDR group for inspiration and critical review. I was stunned and overjoyed to be accepted.

Here is a link to last years show.

First Print Sale

Bakery-coffee shop showing resulted in interest in both and redbubble. This resulted in my first sale: a gift to her husband on his 65th. Wonderful couple … we went over prints in my home on Sat. and they chose the following print. Thanks to all my associates at Redbubble for the feedback and encouragement.
