Taking the Blame

Children crying
Elders whying
Ladies screaming
Women pleading

Why is it that
Their cries are muffled
By our stiff shoulders

We all point fingers
In the direction of our foes
It’s easier than seeing our own reflection

Seeing our own reflection is the only way

The only way to stop evil
To stop the demon who
Houses himself amongst
Our beloved as we sleep
As we dream the demon
Stands over our body
Laughing
Laughing at the fact that
We are helpless in our state

The only way to listen
To listen to all the sorrowful
Begging, pleading, weaping
Voices of all who are helpless
We are the only ones who can
Calm their fears
But it will not happen if we
Decide to silence them

Why is it that we
Decide to numb
Our bodies
Our minds
Our hearts
Our souls
To all that surrounds us
Thinking it is the
Only way to live happily
While knowing all along
The veil only hides
The pain we feel inside
Afraid that anyone
May see our discomfort

Afraid that we
May stick out in a crowd
Heaven forbid we be different

But,
That is what we must do
We must stand up
And be reckognized
In order to change
The terrible things
Which are reaccuring
All around us

It is our fault
We must take the blame
To change the game.
