Artist's Description

I made this originally as a little sketch in a notebook. After that me and a friend were making wheatpastes to throw on some buildings and I decided to redraw it so I could see it up in public. This is a vector rendering of what it looked like after weather and peoples hands had gotten to it. During the time I originally drew it I was studying the train of thought in zen schools and really getting into my metaphysics in ways I previously hadn’t allowed myself to. So, those are two of the main things that influenced this on some level and I guess obviously street art as well had its hands in the creation.

p.s. When I have done street art I go by gawed (hence the title). The name comes from the view that every individual thing is implicitly a piece of, or representation of, what we define as “god”. That’s me, you, and all other things. I replaced the O in god with AWE because of the phenomenological idea that, beneath our perceptions, our basic state of being is what I came to call “the awe”, which creates it’s understanding of the world via “the bewilderment of the senses”.
