It had barren appearance and almost a lunar feel as we walked out onto the salt crust of the dry Lake Eyre, almost like walking in the snow, but marginally warmer. The near-full moon lit up the salt brilliantly.

Thanks George – walking out there really seems like nothing else in the world.You do have to tread carefully though as the salt crust is quite brittle in many places, giving way to a gooey black silty mud which is not unlike Vegemite in appearance!
