Artist's Description

Gibraltar Falls, located near the Corin Dam Rd in the Australian Capital Territory, cascades 50 metres. The Gibraltar Creek originates at 1,320 metres above sea level (well above the snow-line).

Settlement in the area first occurred in the late 1890’s by the Woods family who named their property ‘Gibraltar Creek’. Until the Corin Dam Road was established in the 1960’s, the station was very difficult to access and travelling stockmen were about the only ones to ever pass by. The Corin Dam is one of four dams providing storage for Canberra’s water supply.

Canon EOS450D, Canon EF-S 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5 USM, tripod.

500 viewings to 23 Aug 2013.
