I’ve managed to get a couple of places in a photographic exhibition!!

The exhibition is titled: “Glimpses of a Journey” and will run for the first three weeks of October 2011 in the Ilios Gallery, Wilbur’s Café & Bar in Hackett, Canberra ACT.

A little night photography

Now that I’ve got myself a tripod (on long-term loan from my brother who had to upgrade to something a little more robust to support his newer, bigger, heavier camera!), I’ve been trying a little bit of night photography when the opportunity arises.…

Here is one of my latest captures taken under near-full moonlight (no other light sources).

I’ve also previously tried (less successfully) a night picture of a mountain under a full-moon.

But, I’ve got a question for all the much more experienced night-photographers – how do you get the camera to focus in these conditions??
The auto-focus (Canon EOS 450D) can’t focus in such low light levels, the live-view shows only a black screen so is not helpful either, and the old-fashioned naked-eye through the viewfinder is rather difficult also in low

Guess who's coming home?!

Hi all,

I have realised that my time here in Indonesia is drawing to a close, and I hope to be boarding a plane back home to Australia in less than 2 months!

I thought I’d put the question out there: Is there anything you think I should photograph here before I return home?

Is there something that you think “Why is he wasting his time photographing mountains that are mostly obscured by clouds anyway – why, oh why doesn’t he photograph _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ like I would if I was there?!”

Anyway, just thought I’d put it out there in case you’ve got any suggestions or anything you’d particularly like to see.

New Portfolio Launched - Buildings

Please take a few moments to view my portfolio of Photography of Buildings This style of photography is commonly used to market a property, or a property related service. It may be used by a building manager/owner or property agent to attract potential buyers, tenants and/or visitors, or by a construction or consulting company to showcase their experience in previous projects. Obviously these people look for high quality images showing the property at its best!
