Artist's Description

She who shines from the foam,
Glowing as an evening star
Swathing us in the veil of darkness
Aphrodite,Venus,Ishtar

Her love upon us, she has bestowed
Petrified hearts slowly erode
Her work is done, be not bereft
Her parting gift of rapture blessed

She draws the day to an end
She knows this has to be
For without end there is no beginning
When a new dawn can be set free…

dupont on silk

*the name is from aphrós “foam” and déatai “[she] seems” or “shines” (infinitive form *déasthai), meaning “she who shines from the foam [ocean]”…….. the name probably means “she who (comes) at dusk,” which would identify Aphrodite in her personification as the evening star, a significant parallel she shares with Mesopotamian Ishtar.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aphrodite
