Artist's Description

a periodic photographic essay produced ‘between trains’ on the way to and from work each day. the process involves getting off at a station and spending the time ‘between trains’ taking photos in the immediate vicinity of the station, allowing enough time to be back to catch the next train.

this issue features the area surrounding and including box hill station. nestled below a major shopping centre, box hill station is very well located. it has that eerie underground lighting which softens everything a little. the stairs lead to the inside of the centre, in the heart of box hill. without even leaving the ‘validated ticket area’ you can get your mcdonalds fix at the walk up window atop the stairs. a short walk through the centre and you find yourself outside, yet still surrounded by shops. maroondah hwy is not far away at the end of the mall, and to the right is station st.
