Artist's Description

This is a layered design- look closely and you’ll find the entire first chapter of the novel in the background!

Written by Mikhail Bulgakov, The Master and Margarita is a funny, dark fantasy tale of the Devil himself visiting Moscow in the early 1930s.

Hailed as a certain mysterious foreign professor, professor Woland as he is known, brings with him a coterie of evil henchmen from the dark side and a certain fat, black, talking cat named Behemoth. As Woland’s posse descends on the atheist Soviet city, strange things begin to happen to all those who cross the Devil’s path.

Laden with many very famous quotes, sharp observations about human nature throughout the ages and surreal events, the novel’s perhaps most famous quote is “Manuscripts don’t burn!” – meaning nothing is ever erased or forgotten. Beware.
