I created this hyperbolic tessellation mandala by starting with an angular pattern in the center and then repeated it around the circle and outward. I continued the angular-styled pattern in the adjoining blossoms. It has the appearance of multifaceted prisms.

Nice work what did you generate this with?

Thanks for your great question.
I create my own mandala designs by first hand-sketching them with pencil and paper. I created a “hyperbolic” graph (based on MC Escher’s “Angels and Devils” print) on which I place my tracing paper; this helps me keep the symmetry while allowing me to free-hand draw the design. I then scan it into Illustrator and using a graphics tablet and stylus, I trace & tweak the final mandala design.

Wow it’s impressive that your work is created by hand and not programmatically. I see that this work is only available on T-Shirts. It would work very well as a sticker if you inverted. ie Black artwork on a white background. Also it would look very nice as a card and also work well on a laptop case or iPhone cover etc. see my works Dynamic Circle Chords and Spirograph IV Polar Flower I and Iris I and for something different scintillating grid Regards,

Thanks, Rupert. I’ve been away from my RedBubble site for a while and just read your comment today. I did add this design to other products including the ones you mention…except the sticker. I’m working on that. I like your work…very powerful.
