Artist's Description

No fancy titles – it is what it is. The poetry is inherent. Perfect, delicate, rare, and beautiful. This photo was taken near Winter Park, Colorado this summer. The sunset-light lit it up like a stained-glass window.

“Also see my other columbine photo, taken at the same place.”http://www.redbubble.com/people/theeyeshaveit/a...

The columbine was adopted as the Colorado state flower in April 1899 (exactly 100 years prior to the Columbine High tragedy). Since 1925 it has been illegal to pick, dig up or otherwise disturb columbines in Colorado.

Here’s an exerpt from “Where Columbines Grow,” the official Colorado state song:
Let the violet brighten the brookside,
In sunlight of earlier spring,
Let the fair clover bedeck the green meadow,
In days when the orioles sing,
Let the goldenrod herald the autumn,
But, under the midsummer sky,
In its fair Western home, may the columbine bloom
Till our great mountain rivers run dry.

If you or someone you know loves Columbines, check out the calendar Glory of the Columbine!
