Cycle With an End

It’s good to know I’d bleed for you
Despite the pain it brings.
Every time you bit
It rips my soul.
I reach a hand out to help
You lash out with barbed wire.
I ignore the burn your words leave
And fight the shadows away.
You come to me in misery
After pushing me away
I take you back under my wing each time.
Waiting for your sword
To cut through me again
While the rain falls from the ever darkening sky.
It’s just like clockwork
This vicious cycle of hurt.
I keep hoping for a different end
Knowing it will never come.
Should I move on
Leave you behind to fool somebody else?
Give up this brutal fight
For lost love.
My love once fueled the fire
Of my passion to fight to help
But now it’s dwindled to nothing.
Why fight for someone you don’t love?
The rain washes all of it away.
I won’t be used by you again
Be fooled by the false cries you use to lure me.
I’m cutting the bonds that linked me to you.
I’m standing in the rain
With hope for the future.
A bright future that doesn’t include you.
