Artist's Description

Let’s move north from Cumbria and whet your appetite for a summer holiday on the island of Arran, which lies between the Ayrshire coast and the Kintyre Peninsula in southern Scotland.
Often termed ‘Scotland in miniature’, Arran has a bit of everything from large and wild mountains to fertile fields, varied and interesting wildlife to fascinating geology, rocky beaches to numerous golf courses! It now also boasts a whisky distillery as well as the famous Arran Aromatics.

This photograph is taken in the main town, Brodick, where the ferry arrives from Ardrossan on the mainland. The mountain behind the MV Caledonian Isles is Goat Fell at 2862’ (874m) it is the highest mountain on Arran and very popular for a bit of lung-bursting exercise (I’ll have to stick with the grounds and gardens of Brodick Castle!).
The small boat in front of the ferry followed in the wake of its larger cousin all the way from Ardrossan, thus having a much smoother ride than making its own way (very cunning!).

Thanks for looking
Richard
