Artist's Description

Continuing on our boat trip from Lerwick, Shetland’s capital, to the Isle of Noss, we are at the base of Noss Head for this one and just a tiny selection of the myriads of gannets on these cliffs.
They are about 3’ or more long beak to tail and have a 6’ wing span so they are large enough birds and have very subtle and beautiful colours on their heads and, of course, that wonderful blue eye colour. The more speckled birds are the younger gannets – they take about 5 or 6 years to lose all their ‘baby clothes’!

Thanks for looking
Richard
