Artist's Description

The last (I think!) of my series of shots around my home town of Lancaster – though more will undoubtedly follow as time goes by!
This is taken in Lancaster Cemetery and, like many cities, the cemetery is a haven of quiet and beauty. Yes, the graves mark so much sadness (unless you are blessed with unquestioning certainty about a pleasant afterlife!) but they also show that we care for one another and give us an opportunity to assess our own lives and our role in this world of ours.
They are also excellent for wildlife and plants and I like to think of the snowdrops and crocuses breaking through and flowering in the winter months as an analogy to the beginning of new lives for us all when that dreaded day finally arrives.

Thanks for viewing this and any of the other Lancaster photographs!
Richard
