Mother

Mother I stand here dressed so smart,
I stand here with a broken heart,
I stand and I wonder at the plan of it all,
And know one day we’ll all take the same fall.

Mother I saw you laid to rest,
All dressed up smart in your favourite dress.
You looked so peaceful, you looked asleep.
But yet I cannot help but weep.

I weep with sadness that is true,
But I weep with joy just knowing you,
You were my mother and my friend,
You were my guiding light,
You would never let me give up,
you made me fight.

Mother I stand here weeping and sad,
But for knowing you I’ll always be glad.
One day I know we’ll meet again,
We’ll swap daft stories and laugh at this pain.
