Artist's Description

Overview of the US Navy at the start of the Great War (at least 1914). By 1917 and until 1918 many more ships of all size and tonnage will follow, doubling these figures: By 1923 when production stopped and the last ships were delivered, the US Navy had 45 battleships, 47 cruisers, 340 destroyers, and 55 submersibles, making it the world’s second second largest, almost in par with the Royal Navy. The Washington Treaty placed a an on all major constructions for 10 years and limitations in tonnage for all categories.
