Artist's Description

A friend and I spied this 1958 T-Bird when we stopped to shoot the neon sign at the 66 Diner on Albuquerque’s Central Avenue, near the University of New Mexico campus. We naturally decided to use the car for foreground interest. We set up our tripods and got a series of shots and then T-Bird Dave appeared and identified himself as the owner. T-Bird explained that his nickname is due to the fact he once owned seven T-Birds simultaneously. He graciously agreed to pose with the car and then was patient enough to sit through several different “takes” for us.

Pentax K20D, 4 seconds @ F20, ISO 200, EV comp -.7, 28mm. RAW file exposed once for the neon and once for T-Bird Dave and the foreground, and then the two images were merged in Photoshop CS3, using the Scott Kelby method.
