Save The Redbubble Forums

Recently, the forums have been a magnet for spammers, requiring resources we can’t spare during our busiest period of the year. In an effort to resolve this issue properly, we have temporarily closed the forums until next year while we evaluate the options we have to make this a more positive place for artists. We appreciate your patience.

And thus, my first Journal Post.

Dear Redbubble, we need the forums. It is a huge part of the artist community on RB, and even if I did not post often, I read a lot. I learned a lot. The forums would give me a heads up on glitches and whoopsies and appropriate workarounds.

When I saw a few days ago that The Forums had been closed, I felt a great sadness. I have waffled in the days since… ignore it and go on or say something. I choose now to say something. I don’t want to go join the Redbubble Facebook group. When I go to FB it’s for one thing, when I come to RB, it’s for another. The internet has always had rooms, and in those rooms are people… I go to those places to see those particular people. I don’t feel comfortable typing the same comments and questions on FB as I would here in the Redbubble Forum. It might seem weird, but it’s the truth.

Sure, sure, spam is a problem, but it’s not a new problem. Spam has been happening since the early days of the ‘net, back when it was the Wild West. It seems odd that all these years, the spam was not such a big deal but now it’s suddenly so awful that the forum has been temporarily closed. I fear this might have to do with BYRON being banned, when all he was doing was pointing out the spam. BYRON was a major asset to RB and I read what he wrote, because of the wisdom he provided.

What I am trying to say is… Dear Redbubble, I know you won’t see my little Journal Post but I really wish you would reconsider. Through the years, I have treasured the people who help and share and teach via the Redbubble Forums. It can’t take more than one person sneaking in for an hour a day to clear out any spam posts, if that much. Assign one person to do that in the morning while they sip their coffee before their day starts… Because without The Forums, if I run into a glitch, instead of perusing the forum to see what’s up, I will now contact Support instead. Over and over and over again.

So… yeah. That’s it.
Cheers :>
