His Little Water Lily

What has the gray sea dished out for you but a place to call home?
Uncurled one by one, intertwined little by little.
Lie back here, fill my mouth with you.
What surrounds you here and nowhere else but true love?
Forget them!
This is all that defines you, all you dreamed of.
Eat the petals one by one, sunk deep within me inch by inch.
Take a moment to suckle long the magenta nectar.

Your captain calls.
Your memories stutter, your eyelids flutter.
Your lover answers (Nymphaea Nelumbo).
You belong here (you are nothing without me).
Stay, stay, stay….take another past your lips.
Stay, stay, stay….making love in winter feels just like summer.
I drink your essence, I am Wild Devotion.
Dreaming that you would come (and you did as I commanded).

What has time given you but an aging face full of discouraged bitterness?
Floating one by one, pressed down into the loam longer and longer.
Remaining with me, licking the pollen on your tongue.
I pass them to you unblinking in the dusk.
I give to you as the gods look on, as the waves break.
Rooted and taking shape, the germinated seed stops the clock.

Petal by beautiful Petal.
If only to make you stay awhile…
