CEILI’S SOMETIME NIGHTS

Sometimes at night
As she lies in
Bed and looks at
The black ceiling,
She has the sick
Feeling of dank

Emptiness deep
Inside and feels
The empty space
Beside her where
Her lover used
To be, then feels

Her head where thoughts
Once came and where
Some were lost, feels
Her breast where once
He would rest his
Head, the lover,

The lone lost one.
Sometimes at night,
She would watch where
The moonlight made
Patterns on the dark
Ceiling and her frail

Feeling of sour
Aloneness would
Bite home, and her
Memories of
Her yesterdays
Would come flooding

Like blood of dead
Wombs, the times she
Thought she had long
Since forgotten,
The times she wished
She had, the time

She was raped, but
Said sweet nothing,
The one time she
Copulated
With a distant
Cousin, and told

None who mattered
Much. Sometimes at
Night she’d dream of
The places she
Could have been to,
The sights she could

Have seen, the dream
Copulations
She could have had,
But never did
And those she did,
But wished she

Hadn’t. Sometimes
At night she’d just
Lay without care,
Stare and pretend
Her ghostly lone
Lover was there.
