Taken at the Woodland Park Zoo in Seattle, Washington (US)
The latest addition to one of my favorite exhibits at Woodland Park is the masked lapwing. Now in one place I can see the kookaburra, the blue faced honeyeater (very difficult to get a good shot of) and the lapwing. They are all such beautiful and interesting birds. The honeyeaters are very shy and stay in the leafy branches. The kookaburra’s sit in the open like they are posing for anyone with a camera. They are such hams!! The two lapwings didn’t appear to pay much attention to anyone or anything other than each other. They are the most interesting creatures with that yellow mask!! I waited and waited for one of them to turn toward me, but then decided I really liked this over the shoulder look. Oh, I guess that would be over the wing look for a bird!!
