stay winded
expel all those words
youve loved to offend the sense of hope with
hopeless yet hold this
step forward blind
and listen for the next step

youll drop out of beat maybe
down another line

you won’t remember what you just stepped out of
but you’re in the fire now its
tickin’ time
right by
eyelids flutter in the dark parts of your eyes

worthless excuses useless
abuses truth is clueless
prove this its all the same business

doing business like hard time you dedicate
your weeks
to walking the guideline
so button that shirt and tug on that
the noose is the only thing
holding you to your lie

you look in that mirror
im happy im happy im happy
youre dying, youre dying, and dying
step out that door to the cold car and pedals on the floor
makin your scarred heart beat hard
blood pumping now better than
what you get from the dollar seventy nine cup of caffiene
youre smiling and laughing thinking
god is this happening

tell yourself whats real
ive washed my hands im pilot see
your fate wont wax my seal
i wont care past today
so what i know you
tomorrow ill turn my head the other way
ill walk by as you bury your face in the magazine
telling yourself people are checking you out on their
hurried way to other things

ive filled this pot yet turned my palms black
its what you get for the offensiveness
but i wouldnt give these stains back
i look down and think twice
remember that sometimes
some things just arent worth making nice

ive learned to share and give advice
but leaning on a shoulder will be neither crutch nor vice
i skate thin ice and manage to tread the water
find my way to shore in my sleep and walk it off like i wasnt bothered
cauterize another wound ignore most hands that some have offered

some go searching for some help when theyre weak
for a boost when theyre feelin meak
that little pickmeup to get you through the week

overlook the status and the planets
your horoscope wont help you avoid the accidents
no palm reader can tell you whats happening is
you’re losin what you were to these identity bandits

they say we know you we love you
see we’ve had it we’re fed up with it too
youll be one of us cause we’re just alike,

just another piece of propaganda for someone elses monger tools
we all get judged from a pigment to a dye to our shoes
no stronger opiate than the want to
be like people who are just like ‘you’

so here’s this note just to remind you
whenever you doubt this breath you’ll look down too
doesnt matter what they see but it reflects your truth
and why every second that you breathe only defines you
